Why is this drug prescribed?
Fluconazole is used to treat pneumonia, meningitis, and fungal infections of the mouth, throat, liver, kidneys, heart, urinary tract, and abdomen. It also has been used to treat vaginal infections and
oral thrush in certain patients.

What special precautions should I follow?
If you are taking antacids, cimetidine (e.g., Tagamet), famotidine (e.g., Pepcid), nizatidine (e.g., Axid), omeprazole (e.g., Prilosec), or ranitidine (e.g., Zantac) while you are taking itraconazole
or ketoconazole, take the other medicine at least 2 hours after you take itraconazole or ketoconazole . If you take these medicines at the same time that you take itraconazole or ketoconazole, they wi
ll keep your antifungal medicine from working properly.

Side Effects
Although side effects from fluconazole are not common, they can occur. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away: - upset stomach - loss of appetite -
altered taste - diarrhea or loose stools - headache - dizziness - fatigue If you experience any of the following symptoms, call your doctor immediately: - rash
- itching - vomiting - yellowing of the skin or eyes - dark urine - pale stools

The presence of other medical problems may affect the use of Diflucan. Make sure you tell your doctor if you have any other medical problems, especially: - Congestive heart failure¡XItraconazole

Overdosage
Any medication taken in excess can have serious consequences. If you suspect an overdose, seek medical treatment immediately. Symptoms of Diflucan overdose may include: - Hallucinations

How should this medicine be used?
You can take Diflucan with or without meals. Take this medication exactly as prescribed, and continue taking it for as long as your doctor instructs. You may begin to feel better after the f
