How should you take this medication?
Fluconazole comes as a tablet and liquid to take by mouth. It is usually taken once a day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any
part you do not understand. Take fluconazole exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.
Shake the liquid well before each use to
mix the medication evenly.
Continue to take fluconazole even if you feel well. Do not stop taking fluconazole without talking to your doctor.

Side Effects
Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:
- Dark or amber urine; fever and sore throat; loss of appetite; pale stools; reddening, blistering, peeling,
or loosening of skin and mucous membranes; stomach pain; unusual bleeding or bruising; unusual tiredness or weakness; yellow eyes or skin
- Fever and chills; skin rash or itching

Significant Interactions:
When you are taking Diflucan, it is especially important that your health care professional know if you are taking any of the following:
- Vincristine (e.g., Oncovin)¡XMetabolism of these dr

- Felodipine (e.g., Plendil) or
- Nifedipine (e.g., Procardia) or
- Verapamil (e.g., Isoptin, Covera)¡XConcurrent use can cause water retention or sl
the heart rate.
- Carbamazepine (e.g., Tegretol) or
- Phenobarbital (e.g., Luminal)
- Phenytoin (e.g., Dilantin)¡XConcurrent use with itraconazole may decrease itraconazole concentrati
ns. Phenytoin concentrations may be increased.
- Cyclosporine (e.g., Sandimmune, Neoral)

Precautions while Using this Medicine
Liver problems may be more likely to occur if you drink alcoholic beverages while you are taking ketoconazole. Alcoholic beverages may also cause stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, headache, or flushing
or redness of the face. Other alcohol-containing preparations (for example, elixirs, cough syrups, tonics) may also cause problems. These problems may occur for at least a day after you stop taking ke
toconazole. Therefore, you should not drink alcoholic beverages or use alcohol-containing preparations while you are taking this medicine and for at least a day after you stop taking it.

- Cushing's syndrome
- Febri

- Fungus infections in newborns
- Hirsutism
- Histoplasmosis
- Paronychia (infection of the tissue surrounding the nail)
- Penicillium marneffei infection
- Pneumonia caused by fungus
- Prostate cancer
- Ringworm of the beard, hand, or scalp
- Septicemia (infection of the blood) caused by fungus
- Skin infection (including leishmania
sis and sporotrichosis)
