How should this medicine be used?
Wash hands and open a new packet of Aldara cream just before bedtime.
Apply a thin layer of cream on the wart(s).
Rub the cream in until it vanishes.
Discard the open pac
ket and wash hands.
Leave the cream on the wart(s) for 6 to 10 hours.
After 6 to 10 hours, wash the area where Aldara cream was applied with mild soap and water.

Why is this medication prescribed?
Aldara is used to treat external warts around the genital and rectal areas called condyloma acuminatum. It is not used on warts inside the vagina, penis, or rectum.
It works by aiding the immune s
ystem to help protect the body from viruses that cause warts. The medicine does not fight the viruses that cause warts directly. It does help to relieve and control wart production.

What special precautions should I follow?
ChildrenˇXStudies of this medicine have been done only in adult patients, and there is no specific information comparing use of Aldara in children up to 18 years of age with use in other age groups.<

Side Effects of This Medicine
Although side effects from Aldara are not common, they can occur. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:
- redness, itching, or burning of the skin

laking of the skin
- swelling or pain in the area where Aldara was applied
- blisters, scabs, or bumps on the skin
- change in skin color
- headache
- muscle weakness or pain
- fever
- flu-like symptoms
- fungal infection
